The Table Mountain Trail crosses the Back Table, Eastern Table and Western Table of Table Mountain.

Cape Town – city and southern suburbs region

Taxi cab; e-hailing; self-drive; collection by arrangement

2 days / 1 night – fully catered and guided

Start: Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens – GPS: 33˚98’92.80 S / 18˚43’41.70 E

Finish: Lower Cable Station – over looking Cape Town CBD –  GPS: 33˚95’11.06 S / 18˚40’28.52 E 

Day 1: Between 4 & 8 km depending on route.  4-5 hours including lunch stops

Day 2: 9km. 3-4 hours.

Moderate with some steep sections and a short, easy rock scramble.  No exposure.

A good degree of overall fitness required.

Example: On path, steep terrain, no technical exposure, limited easy scrambling

Example: Mountain terrain with short steep sections, well defined natural rock path with some loose stones and uneven surfaces underfoot

1 Night – Overseers Cottage

Comfortable beds with bedding and towels – 2 doubles; 1 twin; 1 twin with bunk beds; 1 4 sleeper with bunk beds; 1 4 sleeper with single beds.

This is a fully catered trail with lunch packs both days, dinner, breakfast and hot beverages supplied. Cold beverages / drinks for own account.

All overnight luggage is transported – day packs only.

The trail is guided by a fully trained, accredited mountain guide.

Day and night time views over the southern suburbs of Cape Town (weather permitting); unique overnight experience on top of this famous Mountain; day time views over the city of Cape Town and Cape Peninsula.

Cableway ride from Table Mountain (not included in cost).

The core of the ‘fynbos’ biome and part of the Cape Floristic Region World Heritage Site. Mostly nocturnal and shy small animals, occasional small antelope and rock hyrax. Lizards and agamas with a scattering of birdlife.

Cape Town and Table Mountain are located in a Mediterranean climate with winter rainfall. Summer can be hot (up to 35 degrees). Spring and Autumn are moderate and the best hiking season although good winter days can be quite warm and summer temperatures are seldom high for long periods. Hiking is possible all year round.
